ABOUT
Jazmine Catasús is an artist and educator based in Brooklyn,NY. She is an object based artist, who makes paintings, prints, and sculptures with handmade paper as a foundational material. Her practice is concerned with the intersections of ornamentationBlackness, spiritual practices, and materiality. It discusses the complexities of Black subjectivity, religo-aesthetics within the African Diaspora, and its consequential material output. She holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a BA from CUNY-Hunter College.
